background

In a context where meeting the needs of patients and the preservation of the environment have become major challenges, this project aims to redefine vaccine packaging through innovation and eco-design. The objective is to implement a 100% all-cardboard solution by 2027, by developing a patented design capable of covering several packaging lines. Thus, a multipack line will be dedicated to grouped packaging, while two monopack lines will meet unit packaging needs, and a fourth line is being created in order to diversify the offer.

At the same time, the project addresses significant environmental challenges at the site level, in particular by replacing PVC-aluminum blisters with all-cardboard packaging and by optimizing packaging units. These adjustments will make it possible to reduce the use of PVC by 500 tons per year, to reduce the number of pallets transported by 50%, to limit the volume of transport by 35% and to avoid the emission of 3700 tons of CO₂ equivalent annually. The whole is supported by the improvement of the packaging process and the validation of compliant qualification tests, guaranteeing an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly solution.

Customer needs

The customer expects a global redesign of the vaccine packaging that combines innovation, performance and respect for the environment. He is looking for a complete and sustainable solution, making it possible to reduce the use of non-recyclable materials and to optimize logistics. The objective is to design a successful range of packaging, capable of adapting to different needs (multipack and monopack) while guaranteeing a significant reduction in PVC consumption, pallets transported, logistics volume and CO₂ emissions. This eco-design approach must also ensure compliance and quality at each stage of the process.

Specificity of the mission

The mission is to completely rethink the vaccine packaging process by integrating an innovative and eco-responsible approach. It is based on the development of a patented design and on the creation of several dedicated lines (multipack, monopack and a new line in progress). The objective is to implement an all-cardboard system, guaranteeing both logistical performance and a significant reduction in environmental impact. The optimization of processes and the success of the qualification tests ensure the compliance and sustainability of the proposed solution.
