The first offshore wind farm to be commissioned in France, the Saint-Nazaire site includes 80 Hal-150 6 MW wind turbines, for a total capacity of 480 MW. Vulcain was selected by several major players in the project to intervene on various critical phases: storage, pre-assembly, punchlist, offshore installation.
The project mobilizes a variety of partners: General Electric for wind turbines, Prysmian for submarine inter-wind cables, EDF Renouvelables as project owner, Chantiers de l'Atlantique for the OSS electrical substation, and RTE for the connection to the terrestrial grid.Since 2020, Vulcain has been present on site with a multidisciplinary team that operates both on land and at sea, guaranteeing regulatory compliance, operational safety and quality. installations. This pioneering project embodies France's ambition in renewable energies and Vulcain's ability to orchestrate complex offshore projects.
The various clients of the project were looking for a partner capable of taking charge of all the operational aspects of the site: HSE, quality, methods, logistics, coordination. In a complex and demanding offshore context, Vulcain has been able to act as a link between technical and institutional stakeholders, by ensuring rigorous management of operations, fluid communication and strict compliance with standards.
Centralize HSE and quality management to ensure project consistency.
Effectively coordinate several actors on a national strategic site.
Maintain performance throughout the installation cycle, despite offshore hazards.
Vulcain ensures the HSE management of the Saint-Nazaire hub for General Electric, while working on pre-assembly, offshore installation and punchlist activities. We also manage HSE supervision for EDF Renouvelables, the quality of the connection for RTE, as well as cable installation operations for Prysmian. Our presence extends to offshore substation engineering with Chantiers de l'Atlantique, guaranteeing a transversal vision of the project.
Manage HSE issues on land and at sea with a constant presence on the hub and offshore.
Supervise the quality of the installations and coordinate the interfaces between all the key players.
Ensure operational continuity, from pre-assembly to fleet commissioning.
